We are heading back!

We are heading back to Anaheim, CA in July 2014 and I will be using this blog to show you how you can save money and get to see some of the wonderful places they have around there to see free or next to free. Also showing how we can see more places on one or two cards and save money with them.  We have used one of the cards in the past, but will be our first with the other, but haven't heard any bad things about it.  These cards are Southern California Citypass and the Los Angeles Go Card I don't get any remuneration from these cards. I just want to show you how you can save money on the places you may want to see.

The Citypass is good for 3 days at Disneyland, a day at Universal Studio Hollywood and another day at SeaWorld in San Diego. This card is good for 14 days from first use. This is the card we haven't used yet, but I am looking forward to it!

The Go card is good at 37 places in and around Los Angeles. It is good for use up to the amount of days card you bought over a 14 day period.  "For example, if you activate a 3-day pass on a Monday, then your pass will be good for that day and 2 more calendar days in the next two weeks to follow. If you decide to go sightseeing again that Friday, then you will have one day left to use, and so on."  (as taken from the Go card site) Some of these places include another day at Universal if you buy one of the 3, 5 or 7 day cards. Knottsberry farm is a place we have to see every time we go to Anaheim area and it's included in the Go card. We will also be stopping by the (new to us) Knotts Soak City.  We stop by the Geode Shop where you can buy yourself a geode and they cut it in half so you can see what's inside.  We have bought 2 so far and have wonderful specimens. I can't wait to go back!

In the upcoming months, I will be showing you the other places we are going to be visiting with these cards and I will include pictures of the places we have visited. There will also be other places we have visited that aren't included on these cards, but hopefully will inspire you to take a day away from the theme parks and visit them. I look forward to showing you these places

Kids eat free Anaheim California

I know I'm not the only one who thinks we need to save money on the food we are eating while we are on vacation.  We tried to find some of the less expensive areas to eat and this is what we found. If you have kids under 12 (usually that's the age) then there are tons of places where they eat free on different nights of the week.  IHOP is a great place to eat for that reason.  The one across from Disneyland was good when we ate there in 2008.

Things we found to do in LA

Hubby and I found this wonderful card when we went to LA on our own in 2009.  We will be using it again when we go with the 2 kids in 2011. LA GO Card  this card was a money saver for us and we didn't have to worry about making sure we had called ahead to different venues for most of them.  Some of the places we visited were....

Universal Studios, we went there twice!! It has changed I noticed that you can go up to 3 now!! Whoohooo!!  They also have an all you can eat deal that we went with. It was nice not having to take money everywhere for food. Just showed them the wristband and went through the turnstile.

We went on a cruise with Spirit cruises That was fun. We saw some amazing things including sea lion sitting on a buoy! There were about 10 of them on there! I will be adding pictures as I can.

aquarium of pacific  was fun. We petted (is that the right word??) a manta ray, some other sea creatures, hubby went in with the birds, I couldn't talk myself into it! lol

cabrillo marine aquarium was really cool.  You can pet the sea urchins, cucumbers, anemones, barnacles, etc Then we went to Cabrillo beach which is right in the same parking lot. There were two sides to the beach. The less wavy section is where we went because of Joey's muscle issues. We were afraid he'd slip. They also have sand wheelchairs available should you need it!

Los Angeles on a Budget....

We have been to LA area twice now and I am working on our next trip, for daughter Meghan's grad present in 2011. We have been able to go with a budget and mostly stayed within it, except when hubby and I went by ourselves and I found the LA Fashion District (swoon)

I am hoping to show you how we were able to save money and find free or next to free things to do while we were there. Over the next couple weeks, I will be showing you the things I find for our next trip, many of them are things we found on the first two trips. I'm hoping to show you how you can save money so you'll have more to spend on shopping, food or whatever else you want to spend it on.
